PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between DJ Wegesin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Niaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Niaz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Walkie Talkie - DJ Shadow kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that DJ Wegesin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily DJ Wegesin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niaz throws a right hand that Wegesin ducks under and follows up with a left that Wegesin also avoids with ease.
Donk. Niaz catches Wegesin right on the button with a cross.
Wegesin ducks under a wild hook from Niaz.
Wegesin connects with a jab.

Niaz is rocked!
Wegesin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Niaz tries to bum rush Wegesin with a series of wild strikes but Wegesin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wegesin slips a jab from Niaz.
Niaz lands a right hook to the body.
A combination from Wegesin does no damage.
Niaz lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Wegesin is rocked!
Wegesin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Oh Wegesin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wegesin misses with an uppercut.
Wegesin seems to have got his legs back now.
Wegesin misses with a hook.
Niaz thows a body shot but no joy.
Wegesin lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Niaz is still on wobbly legs! Can Wegesin finish him?
Wegesin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Niaz's waist but Niaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wegesin off to one side.
Niaz seems to have recovered his senses.
Niaz falls off balance throwing a combination

and Wegesin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Niaz's guard now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wegesin tries to free his leg and advance position but Niaz is retaining full guard.

Wegesin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Niaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Wegesin drops back looking for a leg! Niaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Niaz manages to kick Wegesin off! Wegesin jumps back into Niaz's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Niaz throws a hook but Wegesin blocks it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wegesin blocks a jab.
Niaz misses with a double jab
and Wegesin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Niaz throws a looping overhand right but Wegesin ducks down to avoid it.
Niaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wegesin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Niaz looks gassed!

Wegesin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Wegesin is trying for a kimura here. Niaz looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Wegesin wins by kimura!
