Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcelo Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws an overhand right that lands on Coleman's shoulder, as Coleman tries to avoid the shot.

Coleman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Coleman showed some decent athleticism there.

Coleman wants to work for an arm triangle but Alves is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Coleman not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Coleman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Coleman is trying to work for a kimura but Alves is defending well.
Alves tries to get to full guard but Coleman has control of the leg.
Alves is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Coleman scores with a couple of nice shots.
Coleman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Coleman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Coleman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alves has managed to free his arm - good work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Coleman distracts Alves with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Coleman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Alves dives on top into guard.

Alves is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Coleman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alves throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Coleman looking for subs off his back but Alves has passed one foot through into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alves's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alves's back!
Alves is trying to break free.
Coleman lands shots from the back.
Coleman is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Coleman gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Coleman gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Coleman apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Alves dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Alves counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Marcelo Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dark Coleman.
Alves tests Coleman's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Both fighters circling a little - Alves finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Alves goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Alves stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Alves throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Coleman tries to move into range but Alves moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Alves counters with a straight right hand.

Alves lands a really nice looking cross but Coleman seems unphased.

Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alves feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Colemans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Alves counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Coleman!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coleman really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coleman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marcelo Alves will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Coleman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Alves closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Coleman did well to prevent Alves getting side control.

Alves drops an elbow to the side of Coleman's head.
Alves is pressing down on Coleman's thigh, looking to free his foot. Coleman is holding on for now.
Alves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Coleman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Alves is trying to control. Coleman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Coleman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Alves has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Coleman has momentary wrist control but Alves slips an elbow through the middle.

Coleman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alves defends well.

Coleman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Alves working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Coleman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Alves slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Coleman is looking to reverse the position.
Coleman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Alves is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Dark Coleman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Alves prevents Coleman from getting the reversal.

Alves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Coleman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Coleman is in a horrible position here. Alves smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Coleman seems to have recovered his senses.

Coleman is bucking up trying to escape but Alves cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Alves lands a big elbow - Coleman is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Coleman is forced to tap out!
