Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emerson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Boxer!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxer moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Boxer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva moves into the clinch successfully.
Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Silva stands and steps away. Boxer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Boxer misses with a double jab.
Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Silva decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Boxer misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boxer moves away from the strike by Silva.
Boxer just misses with a punch to the body.
Boxer looks to score with a jab to the body but Silva is just out of range.
Boxer scores with a decent looking hook.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boxer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boxer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Silva has an Americana. Boxer didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Silva is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Silva hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Emerson Silva!
