Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Granddaddy Purps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cal Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cal Jones!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Granddaddy Purps has been cut.

Purps shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Purps misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Jones is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Purps has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Purps lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Purps to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Purps manages to get himself to full guard.
Purps on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Purps tries to get out of the position.

Jones stands up from Purps's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jones tries to clinch but Purps is having none of it.

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Purps in a clinch.
Purps is trying to break the clinch but Jones is controlling him.
Jones tries to land a knee to the head but Purps blocks with his arms.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Purps scores a takedown into full mount!
Purps landing strikes, looking to finish!
Purps lands a heavy elbow.
Jones is bucking up trying to escape but Purps cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Purps knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Poor strikes thrown by Purps there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Purps postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones is trying desperately to improve position.
Purps trying to control but Jones is having none of it.
Purps working away from the top, dropping strikes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Purps lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Jones tries to lock up and control but Purps gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Jones is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Purps paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Purps's hands.
Granddaddy Purps seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Jones counters with a crisp one two that drops Purps! Jones thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Purps to his feet! Purps is in big trouble!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Purps has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jones is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Cal Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
