PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marvin comes into the arena with King of Kings by Motorhead blaring out of the sound system. King Marvin is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Marvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Sean Quinn!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marvin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Quinn sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Marvin jabs Quinn to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Marvin shoots in but no luck this time.
Quinn misses with a wild combination.
Marvin shoots for a double leg takedown but Quinn sprawls well. He's pushed Marvin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Marvin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Marvin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Quinn changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Marvin thows a left - swing and a miss!

It looks like King Marvin has been cut.
Quinn comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Marvin closes the distance and clinches up with Quinn, looking for a takedown. Marvin pushes Quinn against the cage but Quinn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Marvin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Quinn dodges the ground and pound from Marvin.

Marvin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Marvin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Quinn, who protects the arm well.
Quinn parries the strikes from Marvin easily there. Marvin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Quinn to escape.
Quinn is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Marvin is trying to get an arm triangle but Quinn is defending well.

Marvin tries to score with some ground and pound. Quinn controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quinn can do anything to dispel that myth.
Marvin is looking to take a break and control but Quinn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Marvin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Quinn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marvin throws a strike aimed at the side of Quinn's head but Quinn avoids it well.

Marvin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Quinn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marvin wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Quinn throws a shot from downtown. Marvin moves away and avoids it.
Quinn throws a hook to the side of Marvin's head but Marvin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Marvin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Quinn is refusing to be controlled, as Marvin sits in half guard.
Marvin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Marvin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Marvin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
King Marvin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Marvin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Quinn defending well though.
Quinn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Marvin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Quinn is just riding it out for now. Marvin eventually gives up the hold.

Marvin is looking to take a break and control but Quinn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Marvin wants to pass to mount but Quinn is defending the position.

Quinn is refusing to be controlled, as Marvin sits in half guard.

Marvin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Marvin works his foot free and advances to mount.
Marvin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Quinn wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Marvin.

Marvin goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Quinn is on top in guard.

Quinn stands and throws Marvin's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Marvin gets back to half guard.
Marvin is looking for a sweep. Quinn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marvin lands with a hook. Quinn tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Quinn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Marvin manages to avoid it.
Quinn uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marvin has time to react.
Quinn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Quinn moves forwards but Marvin connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Quinn. Marvin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Marvin fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Marvin. That snapped Quinn's head back.
Marvin on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Quinn looks to land a left hand but Marvin moved out of range nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Quinn enables Marvin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Quinn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Marvin tries to free his leg and advance position but Quinn is retaining full guard.

Quinn has his hands on Marvin's head, controlling the position.
