PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Paterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ad Santel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paterson comes to the cage accompanied by Guerilla Radio by Rage Against The Machine. Santel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Friday. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Paterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ad Santel!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Kavanagh and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santel throws the left hand but Paterson avoids the punch easily.
Santel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Paterson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Santel looks for a takedown but Paterson sprawls well.
Paterson leaves Santel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
David Paterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ad Santel.

so Paterson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Santel holds on and takes a little breather.
Paterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Paterson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Paterson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Paterson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Paterson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Santel wants to control but Paterson is having none of it.
Paterson prevents Santel from getting the reversal.
Santel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Santel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Santel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Paterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Paterson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Santel to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Santel shrugs it off.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Santel is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Paterson has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Santel is looking to defend but Paterson has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Santel! Paterson pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Santel taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). David Paterson!
An out of breath David Paterson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
