PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Beharry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Awesome Dave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beharry comes to the cage accompanied by Redemption Song. The crowd seem to be enjoying Dave's choice of entrance music: Axis of Awesome. Johnson Beharry could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Awesome Dave's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnson Beharry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Awesome Dave!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dave lands a jab to the nose.
Beharry moves out of range of the strikes.
Beharry shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dave but Dave pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Beharry pivots, looking for a leg kick but Dave is out of range and Beharry settles back down.
A slapping body kick lands there for Beharry.
The crowd cheers as Dave lands an impressive looking overhand right. Beharry doesn't seem phased though.
Beharry thows a body kick. Dave tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Beharry closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Beharry throws a strike aimed at the side of Dave's head but Dave avoids it well.

Beharry thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Dave defending against the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Beharry is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dave will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Beharry is chipping away with strikes.

Beharry tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Beharry tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beharry has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Beharry tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dave defending against the ground and pound.
Beharry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dave wants to get back to his feet.

Beharry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dave, who protects the arm well.

Beharry is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dave is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Beharry misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Dave is trying to control Beharry's posture but Beharry avoids it.

Beharry tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Beharry misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Beharry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dave, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beharry throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dave is working to avoid the ground and pound but Beharry connects with a decent elbow.
Dave is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Beharry's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Beharry prevents Dave from standing back up.
Beharry throwing shots but Dave is blocking nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beharry stops Dave from getting back to his feet.
Beharry trying to control the action but Dave is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson Beharry dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Beharry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dave as he jumps to the side.
Dave stuffs the takedown attempt from Beharry. Beharry gets slowly back to his feet.
Beharry misses with a takedown attempt - Dave sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnson Beharry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Beharry looking to score a takedown here. Dave is defending well but Beharry drives through and ends up in Dave's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dave wants to stand and escape but Beharry is having none of it.
Beharry passes Dave's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Beharry has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Dave defend it? Beharry steps over the head and cranks it - Dave is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Beharry!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Johnson Beharry!
Johnson Beharry decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
