PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Conway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Service (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conway has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 32 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Conway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Service!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Service shoots in and gets a takedown into Conway's guard.
Conway is breathing heavily.
Conway keeping moving, preventing Service from controlling successfully.
Service postures up in Conway's guard and throws a big left but Conway blocks it.
Service pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Conway is keeping the position for now.
Service stands and throws Conway's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Service tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Service has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Service wants to control but Conway is keeping him busy.

Service misses with the ground and pound.
Service taking a breather here.

Service tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Service has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Service trying to control the action but Conway is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Service is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Conway has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Service tries for a kimura but Conway is defending well.
Service trying to control the position but Conway is working away.

Service misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Service controlling the position from side mount.

Service is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Conway is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Service is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Conway has escaped the position, nice work there.
Service works to advance to full mount. Conway defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Service controlling his opponent.
Conway is squirming around, avoiding Service's attempts to control the action.
Service lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Conway hang on?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Service dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Service decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Service sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Conway defending well though.

Service wants to work for an arm triangle but Conway is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Service works his way into full mount!
Service mounts Conway! Really nice guard pass there!

Service is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Conway to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Conway shrugs it off.
Bob Service has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Service content just to control the position here.

Service looking to control but Conway is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Conway holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Service tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Service has hold of Conway's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Conway manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Service thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Conway is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Service controlling his opponent.
Conway takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Conway is squirming around, avoiding Service's attempts to control the action.

Conway is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Service wants to control the pace but Conway is squirming around nicely.

Service wants to finish this one by submission but Conway is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Service.
Service trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Service takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Service showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Service changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Conway looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Service passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Conway!
Service moves to take his opponent's back.
Service trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Conway doesn't escape.
Even with his hooks in, Service manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Service biding his time, looking for the opening.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Conway looking very determined here, making life difficult for Service.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Service has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Conway has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Conway fending off the submission attempt from Service.
Service is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Conway defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Service's arms.
Service throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Service is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Conway is defending well though. Service let's go of the attempt for now.

Service looking for the choke but no joy.
Conway looking very determined here, making life difficult for Service.
Service just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Service has his arm under Conway's chin here. Game over son! Service squeezes tightly and Conway is forced to tap out!
