Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lu Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer works the jab nicely.
Mercer keeps the fight on the outside.
Mercer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kang tries to clinch but Mercer moves out of range.
Kang pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kang slaps away a takedown attempt from Mercer, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mercer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kang throws a wild body kick that Mercer sees coming a mile off.
Kang closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mercer counters with a shoot takedown. Kang fights it but they end up in guard.
Mercer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mercer forces his way into half guard.
Mercer maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Kang could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mercer has cracked it and Kang is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mercer!
