The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hernandez gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Hernandez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hernandez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hernandez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hernandez is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hodgins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hodgins is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Hernandez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Hernandez wants to stand up but Hodgins is controlling him.

Hodgins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hodgins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hernandez wants to get back to his feet but Hodgins is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hodgins keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hernandez's head.
Hernandez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hodgins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hodgins frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

After the fight, Kory Hodgins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
