Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Saifullah Gaziev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ming Maoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saifullah Gaziev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ming Maoki!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maoki throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gaziev sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Maoki throws a shot from downtown. Gaziev moves away and avoids it.
Maoki throws an off balance right hand

and Gaziev counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Maoki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Maoki wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Gaziev is now in half guard.

It looks like Ming Maoki has been cut.
Maoki is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gaziev.

Maoki lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gaziev circles away quickly and effectively.

Maoki lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Maoki struggles to land a body shot inside as Gaziev controls his hands.
Maoki keeps control of Gaziev as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Ming Maoki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Maoki feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gazievs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Maoki in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Gaziev misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gaziev swats away the attempt to clinch by Maoki.

Gaziev uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maoki.
No joy there for Maoki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Maoki digs a good body shot into Gaziev's ribs.

I would just about give that final round to Ming Maoki.
I think Maoki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
