PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fox Mulder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Nieddds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bobby Nieddds was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fox Mulder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Nieddds!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieddds ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mulder throws a push kick but Nieddds slaps the foot to one side.
Nieddds bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mulder takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A big right from Nieddds misses.
Mulder throws a leg kick but Nieddds checks it.
Mulder fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mulder swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nieddds fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mulder checks it well.
Mulder shoots in but Nieddds avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nieddds lands a nice looking body shot.
Nieddds dodges the punch combination from Mulder.
Nieddds misses with an uppercut.
Nieddds lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Fox Mulder has been cut.

Nieddds throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mulder takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Nieddds looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nieddds misses with an uppercut. Mulder saw that one coming.
Bobby Nieddds is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nieddds throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Left hook, right uppercut from Nieddds.
Mulder jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nieddds waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mulder.
Fox Mulder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nieddds misses with a hook to the body
enabling Mulder to counter with a crisp jab.
Mulder swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nieddds makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Mulder moves into range and clinches up with Nieddds.
Nieddds wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mulder has him pressed against the cage.
Mulder presses Nieddds against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Nieddds misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mulder lands a left hand that snaps the head of Nieddds backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mulder can't get the takedown.
Nieddds is pressed up against the cage. Mulder has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nieddds down to the mat. Nieddds avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fox Mulder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mulder swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mulder throws a poor cross that misses
and Nieddds counters with a stiff right hand.
Mulder lands with a good body shot.
Mulder swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mulder swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nieddds counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nieddds lands a body shot.
Nieddds lands with a good body shot.
Mulder pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Nieddds swings for the body but Mulder moves out of range.
Nieddds is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mulder rather than just go for the knockout.
Nieddds scores with a nice head shot.

Nieddds fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mulder looks to throw the jab but Nieddds is out of range.
Nice defenses there by Nieddds.
Mulder fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nieddds looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mulder.
Mulder is looking to clinch.
Mulder connects with a single shot there.
Mulder throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nieddds counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mulder misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Nieddds lands with a cross.

Nieddds cracks Mulder with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nieddds scores with a nice right hand.
A swing and a miss from Mulder.
Mulder throws a lazy uppercut
and Nieddds counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mulder throws out a loose jab but Nieddds uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mulder takes a swing at Nieddds's ribcage but misses.
Mulder throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nieddds counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mulder jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jab, jab by Nieddds - just one landing.
Nieddds throws a nice looking combination but Mulder bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mulder shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nieddds defends it nicely.
A shot to the body from Mulder misses
and Nieddds counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nieddds looks to score with a jab to the body but Mulder is just out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Nieddds dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Fox Mulder's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mulder fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bobby Nieddds is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mulder throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Nieddds counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mulder lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Mulder tries to clinch
and Mulder takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mulder tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mulder misses with a takedown attempt - Nieddds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Nieddds slips a jab and a cross from Mulder.

Mulder gets the takedown into side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nieddds tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mulder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nieddds is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mulder has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mulder sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Nieddds is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Mulder tries to score with some ground and pound. Nieddds controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Nieddds tries to escape but Mulder is in control.
Nieddds manages to get back to half guard.
Mulder throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Nieddds controlling the position for now.
Mulder prevents Nieddds from improving his position.
Mulder thows a huge punch but Nieddds dodges it nicely.
Nieddds is pressing down on Mulder's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Nieddds keeping moving, preventing Mulder from controlling successfully.
Nieddds really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mulder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nieddds looking for a sweep. Not yet Nieddds, not yet.
Nieddds preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Nieddds keeping moving, preventing Mulder from controlling successfully.
Mulder throwing strikes but missing.
Nieddds is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nieddds utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Nieddds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mulder in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nieddds wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mulder works the jab nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mulder.
Mulder throws a right hand that Nieddds ducks under and follows up with a left that Nieddds also avoids with ease.
Nieddds thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mulder has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mulder swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Nieddds misses with a looping right.

Nieddds connects with a body shot.
Bobby Nieddds seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mulder lands a two punch combo.
Nieddds works Mulder's body with a nice hook.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nieddds swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mulder shoots in for a double leg but Nieddds sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fox Mulder. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nieddds will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Nieddds counters with a lovely shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mulder wants to clinch.
Nieddds checks a leg kick.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fox Mulder will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Nieddds stuns Mulder with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Mulder shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mulder gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nieddds cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The fighters circling - Mulder throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nieddds throws the left hand but Mulder avoids the punch easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mulder.
Mulder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nieddds is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Mulder has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Nieddds is trying to improve his position.
The strikes coming from Mulder are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mulder lands an elbow.

An elbow from Mulder crashes against the mat.
Mulder trying to control the position but Nieddds is working away.
Nieddds is looking to reverse the position.
Mulder is looking to take a break and control but Nieddds is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Nieddds tries to bench press Mulder off him but Mulder keeps the position.
Nieddds takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Mulder tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mulder has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nieddds is trying to get back to half guard.
Nieddds avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mulder.
Mulder trying to control the position but Nieddds is working away.

Nieddds can't do much from the bottom here.
Nieddds takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Nieddds taking punishment in the form of punches.
Sloppy strikes there by Mulder.
Mulder is trying to ground and pound but Nieddds uses the momentary lack of control by Mulder to regain half guard.
Mulder is nestled in close to Nieddds, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mulder with the ground and pound but Nieddds uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Nieddds keeping moving, preventing Mulder from controlling successfully.
Mulder looking to sit in guard and control but Nieddds gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mulder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mulder is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fox Mulder showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mulder has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
