PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buddi Zoom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Penties (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Zoom might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Thunder Struck - ACDC. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buddi Zoom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Penties!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penties misses with a double jab.
Penties bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zoom's head.

Penties fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zoom sprawls well initially but Penties persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Zoom pushes Penties off and gets back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Penties as Zoom shoots in.
Zoom moves forwards but Penties connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Zoom throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Penties was covering up waiting for the punch and Zoom finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Penties wants to control but Zoom is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Zoom lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Zoom is trying to work for a kimura but Penties is defending well.

Zoom throws a strike but Penties rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Zoom wants to stand up but Penties is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zoom scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Zoom shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penties's guard.
Penties looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zoom throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Penties works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Penties is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Zoom throws an elbow that misses. Penties uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Zoom's guard. Nice move by Penties!
Zoom is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Penties is controlling him.

Zoom utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Penties with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zoom wants to stand up but Penties is controlling him.

Zoom pushes Penties off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Penties dips to his left and cracks Zoom with an uppercut!
Penties lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zoom circles away quickly and effectively.
Penties misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zoom changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penties tries to avoid it but Zoom manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penties to the ground. Penties escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Zoom fails with the takedown.

Zoom wants to stand and escape but Penties is having none of it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Buddi Zoom will probably get the nod.

Zoom is in a horrible position here. Penties smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Penties breaks from Zoom's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The referee warns Zoom that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Penties has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Zoom's face.

Zoom is rocked!

Oh Zoom is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Zoom bucks up and throws Penties to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
