PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dom DeLuise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dom DeLuise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Masahiko Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura just misses with a punch to the body.
Kimura misses with a two punch combination.
DeLuise tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kimura is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by DeLuise.
DeLuise pulls out of a head kick attempt.
DeLuise keeps the fight on the outside.
A nice leg kick lands there from DeLuise.
Kimura throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
DeLuise throws a leg kick which misses Kimura's front leg but catches the back leg as Kimura tries to avoid it.
Kimura fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but DeLuise avoids it really well and circles away.
DeLuise fakes the leg kick and cracks Kimura in the body.
DeLuise fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Both fighters circling a little - DeLuise finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kimura blocks a head kick by DeLuise.
DeLuise throws a head kick but Kimura moves out of range.
Kimura fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

A big left from Kimura misses.
DeLuise pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kimura falls off balance throwing a combination
and DeLuise counters with a flying knee. Nice.
DeLuise scores with a leg kick.
Kimura connects with a body shot that sends DeLuise's belly button to the back.
Kimura fails with a takedown attempt.
Dom DeLuise has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Masahiko Kimura.
DeLuise tries a head kick but it misses.
Dom DeLuise is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
DeLuise uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kimura.
DeLuise goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
DeLuise misses with a body kick.
DeLuise misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
DeLuise fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kimura.
Kimura is looking to clinch but DeLuise is avoiding it.
Kimura takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Kimura misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
DeLuise throws a head kick but Kimura moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kimura looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
DeLuise thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kimura if he has to take too many more of those.
DeLuise avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kimura shoots and misses
and DeLuise counters with a low kick, right behind Kimura 's knee.
DeLuise pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kimura wants to clinch
and DeLuise counters with a lovely straight right hand!
DeLuise misses with a kick to the body.
DeLuise chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kimura shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with DeLuise but DeLuise pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kimura just misses with a punch to the body.

Kimura connects with a body shot that sends DeLuise's belly button to the back.
Kimura tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but DeLuise paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kimura lands with a shot to the body.
Kimura swings for the body but DeLuise moves out of range.
DeLuise scores with a head kick. Kimura tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
DeLuise tries to land a front kick but Kimura steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
DeLuise wants to slow Kimura down by chopping away at his legs.

DeLuise lands a big head kick that sends Kimura tumbling to the mat! DeLuise takes a step backwards and waves Kimura back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Kimura is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
DeLuise fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kimura has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kimura is still on wobbly legs! Can DeLuise finish him?
Kimura lands a right hook to the body.
Kimura's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
DeLuise tries a head kick but it misses.

Kimura drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
DeLuise is looking to stand up but Kimura isn't so interested in that idea.
Kimura tries to free his leg and advance position but DeLuise is retaining full guard.

DeLuise is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kimura is aware though and is defending well.
Kimura seems to have recovered his senses.
Kimura works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are battling for position here. DeLuise manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kimura trying to control but DeLuise is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dom DeLuise dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


DeLuise defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kimura.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from DeLuise, right into the meat.
Kimura dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dom DeLuise is winning the standup battle so far.
A slow jab from Kimura misses its intended target.
Kimura shoots in looking for a takedown. DeLuise tries to sprawl out of it but Kimura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. DeLuise manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sloppy strikes from Kimura. Those never looked like landing.
DeLuise throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kimura moves in looking to clinch but DeLuise pushes him off.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Kimura looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? DeLuise is fending him off so far but Kimura persists. Nope, DeLuise circles away and we're back to standing.

Whack! DeLuise lands a heavy head kick that drops Kimura. The ref tackles DeLuise to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Kimura was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Dom DeLuise!
