PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Angus Dickinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sheldon Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper has chosen star trek theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Sheldon Cooper will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Angus Dickinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sheldon Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Cooper has Dickinson up against the cage in a clinch.
Dickinson stalling the fight.

Cooper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cooper scoring well with a low kick there.

Cooper moves into the clinch.
Dickinson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Dickinson wants to get back to striking at distance but Cooper won't allow it.

Dickinson manages to pull guard.
Cooper is fighting to break Dickinson's control of his arms but Dickinson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cooper working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Cooper decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Angus Dickinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dickinson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cooper doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dickinson.

Dickinson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cooper.

Dickinson wants to control but Cooper is keeping him busy.

Angus Dickinson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Dickinson drives through and clinches with Cooper against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cooper drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That was a close round but I would say that Angus Dickinson will probably get the nod.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dickinson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cooper avoids it really well and circles away.
Cooper throws a head kick that misses.
Dickinson tries to bum rush Cooper with a series of wild strikes but Cooper uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dickinson slaps away a takedown attempt from Cooper, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cooper shoots for a takedown but Dickinson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cooper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dickinson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dickinson forces Cooper back against the cage and clinches.
Dickinson keeps control of Cooper as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Dickinson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cooper to keep the fight standing.

Dickinson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cooper keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angus Dickinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cooper fails with an attempt to clinch.

Cooper gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Dickinson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Dickinson rushes Cooper and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cooper lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Dickinson jumps guard but Cooper stands there with Dickinson around his waist. Dickinson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cooper is fighting off a takedown attempt but Dickinson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cooper to the mat. Cooper regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Angus Dickinson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dickinson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cooper counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Angus Dickinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cooper doesn't manage to clinch there - Dickinson circles away.

Cooper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cooper wants it to stay on the feet.

Dickinson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dickinson lands in his opponent's guard.

Dickinson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cooper has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dickinson has managed to get both his arms back between Cooper's legs - danger averted.

Dickinson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Angus Dickinson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cooper is working an open guard so Dickinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Dickinson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cooper manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Dickinson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cooper can't fight it off and eventually Dickinson manages to take the fight to the floor. Cooper looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dickinson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cooper is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cooper has escaped and now he's on top!

Cooper postures up in Dickinson's guard and throws a big left but Dickinson blocks it.
Dickinson keeping full guard, as Cooper tries to pass.
Cooper wants to stand and escape but instead Dickinson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dickinson gets to his feet. Cooper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cooper gets tackled into the cage by Dickinson. Dickinson maintains the clinch.

Cooper jumps guard but Dickinson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cooper is looking to break free of the clinch but Dickinson has double underhooks.
Dickinson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angus Dickinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cooper pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sheldon Cooper has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dickinson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
