Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gus Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Calahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Calahan!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calahan moves into range and clinches up with Shamrock.
Shamrock successfully pulls guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Shamrock keeping moving, preventing Calahan from controlling successfully.
Calahan with a nice head shot there.
Calahan looking to pass the guard.
Shamrock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Calahan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Calahan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Calahan is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Shamrock has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Calahan is looking to defend but Shamrock has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Calahan! Shamrock pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Calahan taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gus Shamrock!
