Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royler Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forest Griffin has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Royler Silva!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Griffin is one step ahead there.
Griffin is fighting to break Silva's control of his arms but Silva is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Griffin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Griffin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Silva looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva forces his way into half guard.
Silva works his way into side control.

Silva looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Griffin's face as Silva controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin stops Silva from passing to mount.
Silva sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Griffin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Griffin, who protects the arm well.

Silva tries for a kimura but Griffin is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva works to advance to full mount. Griffin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Silva moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Griffin has worked his arm free - good work by Griffin!
Silva advances to mount.
Silva pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Silva postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Griffin looks a forlorn figure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Griffin is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Silva locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Griffin is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Royler Silva!
