Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin DiNella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhodri Poacher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin DiNella has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Justin DiNella!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rhodri Poacher!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poacher changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. DiNella looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Poacher is looking to take a break and control but DiNella is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Poacher stands up and beckons DiNella to his feet.
Sloppy strikes from DiNella. Those never looked like landing.
Horrible takedown by DiNella or perhaps it was just good defense by Poacher which made him look bad.

DiNella darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poacher is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
DiNella thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Poacher's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DiNella works his foot free and advances to mount.
DiNella sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Poacher is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
DiNella breaks from Poacher's wrist control and lands an elbow.

DiNella has control of Poacher's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Poacher regains control of the situation pretty easily.
DiNella can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Poacher is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Poacher tries to get back to half guard but can't.
DiNella looking to control but Poacher is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
DiNella tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
DiNella looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
DiNella wants to control the pace but Poacher is squirming around nicely.

DiNella controlling the position easily from mount.
DiNella avoids the attempt from Poacher to control.
Poacher sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
DiNella slows the pace down in half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Justin DiNella wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Poacher drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Poacher swings around for an armbar but DiNella sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Poacher's guard.
Poacher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
DiNella tries to free his leg and advance position but Poacher is retaining full guard.

DiNella drops back, looking for a kneebar! Poacher looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Poacher looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Poacher!
Poacher throws a strike aimed at the side of DiNella's head but DiNella avoids it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poacher trying to control the action but DiNella is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Justin DiNella will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Poacher gets a takedown into half guard.

DiNella kicks off Poacher and gets to his feet.
A combination from Poacher does no damage.
Poacher tries to clinch up.
DiNella stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and DiNella wants it to stay on the feet.
Poacher wants to clinch up but DiNella keeps it at a distance.

DiNella takes the fight into the clinch.
Poacher fails to pull the fight into his guard.
DiNella jumps guard but Poacher turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

DiNella pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
DiNella fails with the takedown

and Poacher holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

DiNella escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Poacher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

DiNella clinches with his opponent.
Poacher is trying to pull guard but DiNella has him pressed against the cage.
Justin DiNella has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rhodri Poacher.
DiNella is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Poacher gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
DiNella stalling in the clinch but Poacher improves position.

DiNella breaks the clinch.
Justin DiNella is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

DiNella closes the distance and clinches.
Poacher is looking to break free of the clinch but DiNella has double underhooks.

DiNella blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Poacher fails to pull guard.
Poacher is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Poacher has DiNella pushed against the cage.
Poacher tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. DiNella just stands there and leans against the cage.
Poacher looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Poacher takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

DiNella has hold of one of Poacher's legs. Poacher is fighting the takedown attempt but DiNella gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Poacher is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
DiNella passes Poacher's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

DiNella trying to mount his opponent but Poacher defends it.
DiNella is working hard here to advance position.
Poacher is staying active underneath DiNella, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
DiNella is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Poacher avoiding damage under a succession of punches from DiNella.

DiNella looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Poacher is looking to control DiNella's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Poacher avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poacher is controlling DiNella's trapped leg to prevent DiNella from advancing to side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
DiNella wants to take a breather but Poacher is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Justin DiNella has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
DiNella keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
DiNella swats away the attempt to clinch by Poacher.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin DiNella dominated that second round.
That's time! DiNella's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


DiNella changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Poacher tries to avoid it but DiNella manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Poacher to the ground. Poacher escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
DiNella takes a kick to the side of the head.
DiNella throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Poacher as DiNella shoots in.
Poacher shoots in but no luck this time.
Poacher has a takedown stuffed.
DiNella misses with a wild body shot.
Poacher blocks a head kick by DiNella.
This has been an exciting period of action!
DiNella fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Poacher avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Justin DiNella. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Poacher closes the distance and clinches up with DiNella, looking for a takedown. Poacher pushes DiNella against the cage but DiNella circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Poacher throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rhodri Poacher seems to be getting the better of the standup.

DiNella shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Poacher is trying to get back to full guard.
Poacher looks like he's trying to stand up.
Poacher is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

DiNella gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Poacher closes the distance and clinches up with DiNella, looking for a takedown. Poacher pushes DiNella against the cage but DiNella circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

DiNella closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Poacher quickly recovers to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Poacher slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells DiNella's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
DiNella is stalling in the full guard.
Poacher looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
DiNella passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Poacher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Poacher reaches up around DiNella's neck trying to control. But DiNella takes advantage instantly and he's locked on an arm triangle! Big trouble for Poacher! Oh that looks nasty! A human being's head is not meant to turn that color! Poacher is out! He's gone limp! The ref steps in to break the fighters up and DiNella celebrates the victory with the fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Justin DiNella!
