PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lee Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ms Jobber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Hewitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ms Jobber!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hewitt has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hewitt lands a knee to the body.
Jobber has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hewitt is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Hewitt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Hewitt with that takedown attempt.

Hewitt instigates a clinch.
Jobber is pressed up against the cage. Hewitt has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jobber down to the mat. Jobber avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hewitt has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Hewitt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hewitt misses with a takedown attempt - Jobber sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jobber shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jobber showed some decent athleticism there.
Hewitt tries to roll over but Jobber keeps him under control.

Hewitt trying to control but Jobber postures up.
Jobber wants to take a breather but Hewitt is having none of it.
Jobber prevents Hewitt from standing back up.
Jobber scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Jobber wants to work for an arm triangle but Hewitt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jobber is looking to advance position but Hewitt won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jobber is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jobber connects with a nice short shot to Hewitt's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jobber is trying to control. Hewitt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hewitt is controlling Jobber's trapped leg to prevent Jobber from advancing to side control.
Hewitt is refusing to be controlled, as Jobber sits in half guard.
Jobber prevents Hewitt from standing back up.
Jobber with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Jobber gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Hewitt is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hewitt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jobber's waist but Jobber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hewitt off to one side.
Hewitt wants to clinch up but Jobber keeps it at a distance.
Jobber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hewitt tries to avoid it but Jobber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hewitt to the ground. Hewitt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jobber tries to close the distance and clinch but Hewitt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jobber looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jobber fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hewitt to the ground. Jobber is now in Hewitt's guard.
Jobber trying to control the position from guard on top but Hewitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hewitt throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jobber escapes and throws Hewitt's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jobber controlling the position.

Jobber tries for a kimura but Hewitt is defending well.
Jobber trying to control the position but Hewitt is working away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jobber stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ms Jobber dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Jobber decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jobber is looking to take a break and control but Hewitt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ms Jobber has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hewitt is trying to get back to full guard.
Hewitt is refusing to be controlled, as Jobber sits in half guard.

Jobber looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Hewitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jobber is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hewitt defends it well.

Jobber postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hewitt to stand up.

Hewitt forces Jobber back against the cage and clinches.
Hewitt tries to pull guard but Jobber holds him up against the cage and eventually Hewitt drops back down to his feet.
Hewitt lands a nice knee to the body.
Jobber trying to stall but Hewitt improves his position.
Jobber drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hewitt pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hewitt takes the fight into the clinch.

Hewitt decides to pull guard.

Hewitt wants to stand but Jobber is controlling the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jobber connects with a couple of short punches.
Jobber wants to control from the top but Hewitt keeps moving.

Hewitt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ms Jobber hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jobber shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hewitt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ms Jobber showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Jobber shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hewitt defends it nicely.

Hewitt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jobber is trying to break free.

Hewitt breaks the clinch.

Hewitt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hewitt working a defensive guard but Jobber passes into half guard.
Hewitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jobber wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hewitt keeps working.

Jobber tries to pass to full mount but Hewitt defends it.
Jobber looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hewitt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hewitt actively working from the bottom here.
Hewitt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jobber in particular looking to stall.
Hewitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jobber wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jobber postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hewitt to stand up.
Hewitt throws a front kick that sends Jobber stumbling back into the cage.
Jobber misses with an uppercut. Hewitt saw that one coming.

Jobber manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hewitt on his heels. He'll look to pass Hewitt's guard now, I'm sure.
Hewitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hewitt is looking to sweep but instead, Jobber has passed into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jobber wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hewitt keeps working.

Jobber is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jobber is trying to control. Hewitt wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hewitt tries to roll over but Jobber keeps him under control.

Jobber is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hewitt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jobber.
Jobber seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hewitt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like Jobber is going to stand back up.
Jobber wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hewitt keeps working.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ms Jobber has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Jobber fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Hewitt to the ground. Jobber is now in Hewitt's guard.

Ms Jobber comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jobber winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
