PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trey Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill comes to the cage accompanied by target=blank>Scorpions. Fritz has chosen Metallica - Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Tom Fritz struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Tom Fritz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Trey Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Fritz!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill shoots in and drives through. Fritz sprawls well.

Fritz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Fritz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Fritz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fritz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fritz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fritz passes Hill's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hill is looking for a sweep. Fritz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hill is breathing heavily.
Fritz tries to pass to full mount but Hill defends it.

Fritz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hill defends it well.
Hill wants to improve his position but Fritz is controlling well.
Fritz trying to pass the guard but Hill defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fritz trying to control the action but Hill is working from the bottom.
Hill is pressing down on Fritz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hill working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fritz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fritz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hill can't keep his opponent in guard - Fritz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Fritz is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hill gets full guard.

Hill looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fritz looking to pass the guard.

Fritz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Fritz won't allow Hill to sweep him here.
Hill could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hill shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Fritz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Fritz moves into full mount! Hill won't be happy about that!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Fritz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hill manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hill prevents Fritz from improving position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hill tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fritz working the body and head with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fritz landing a few strikes.

Fritz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hill is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hill is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Fritz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hill, who protects the arm well.

Fritz in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Hill is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tom Fritz!
