Sonnen throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Van Damme sees it coming and avoids it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sonnen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Van Damme to the ground. Sonnen is now in Van Damme's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Sonnen content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Van Damme has locked up a guillotine! Van Damme's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Sonnen is holding on here and Van Damme must be using up a lot of energy. Sonnen has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Van Damme gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
