PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Axel Lenogue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ottway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Axel Lenogue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Ottway!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ottway tries to clinch but Lenogue moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ottway looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lenogue darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ottway wants to get back to full guard but Lenogue has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ottway tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ottway is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Lenogue decides to stand back up. Lenogue steps back and let's Ottway get back to his feet.

Ottway gets caught napping as Lenogue dives in and scores a takedown. Ottway manages to retain guard.
Lenogue advances to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lenogue tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ottway knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ottway is trying to get back to full guard.

Lenogue looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lenogue is nestled in close to Ottway, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lenogue is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ottway is just riding it out for now. Lenogue eventually gives up the hold.
Ottway is not content to let Lenogue control the position.
Ottway wants to get back to his feet.
Ottway is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Lenogue is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Lenogue wants to pass the guard but Ottway is defending well.
Lenogue is looking to stall here but Ottway recovers full guard.
Lenogue wants to control from the top but Ottway keeps moving.
Lenogue stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ottway swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lenogue drops back looking for a leg! Ottway is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ottway manages to kick Lenogue off! Lenogue jumps back into Ottway's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lenogue has gone for a leg lock! Ottway slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lenogue's guard.

Ottway stands up and waves to Lenogue to follow him.
Lenogue looks for a takedown but Ottway sprawls well.
Ottway fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ottway looks for a takedown but Lenogue sprawls well.
Lenogue shoots in and drives through. Ottway sprawls well.

Ottway closes the distance and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ottway lands a hook that snaps the head of Lenogue backwards.
Lenogue is breathing heavily.

Ottway's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Lenogue with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Axel Lenogue. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ottway shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lenogue defends it nicely.
Lenogue will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ottway gets a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ottway pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ottway fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ottway tries to clinch but Lenogue is having none of it.
Ottway avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ottway is looking to clinch but Lenogue is avoiding it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Axel Lenogue dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Lenogue shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Lenogue lands a big elbow.
Ottway is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Lenogue with shots to the head and body - Ottway looks very uncomfortable down there.

Lenogue has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Ottway is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Axel Lenogue!
A very excited looking Axel Lenogue made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
