Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ace Portgas!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamazaki throws a right and a left that Portgas avoids nicely.
Yamazaki throws a series of punches but Portgas avoids them all with ease.
Yamazaki misses with a head kick.
Yamazaki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yamazaki throws the left hand but Portgas avoids the punch easily.

Yamazaki throws a nice looking combination but Portgas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Portgas shoots in for a takedown but Yamazaki shows good takedown defense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Portgas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yamazaki as he avoids it easily.
Kazushi Yamazaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ace Portgas.
Portgas shoots in and drives through. Yamazaki sprawls well.
Portgas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Yamazaki misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kazushi Yamazaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Portgas shoots for a double leg takedown but Yamazaki sprawls well. He's pushed Portgas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Portgas slips under a jab from Yamazaki.
Yamazaki sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Portgas to the ground! Yamazaki dives into full mount looking to finish!
Portgas is still in real trouble! Can Yamazaki finish him?

Yamazaki wants to stand but Portgas is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Portgas seems to have recovered his senses.
Yamazaki controlling from mount.
Yamazaki is breathing heavily.
Yamazaki looking to control but Portgas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Portgas is desperately trying to improve his position but Yamazaki has a good base and remains in mount.
Portgas is squirming around, avoiding Yamazaki's attempts to control the action.
Portgas sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Portgas shoots in for a double leg but Yamazaki sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Yamazaki throws a nice looking combination but Portgas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Yamazaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Yamazaki throws a right hand that Portgas ducks under and follows up with a left that Portgas also avoids with ease.
Portgas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yamazaki swivels and escapes.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Yamazaki moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Yamazaki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Portgas.
Yamazaki tries to bum rush Portgas with a series of wild strikes but Portgas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Yamazaki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
No joy there for Yamazaki, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
A combination from Yamazaki does no damage.

Portgas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Yamazaki wants to stand up but Portgas is controlling him.
Portgas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Portgas pushing down on Yamazaki's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Portgas is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Yamazaki is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
