Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shannon Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Schmo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmo has chosen Sound of Madness- Shinedown as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Shannon Edwards has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmo takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

The fight stays on the outside here - Edwards looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Edwards with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Schmo to score with a decent uppercut.

Edwards changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schmo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Schmo lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Schmo.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Schmo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Schmo counters with a stiff right hand.

Edwards pushes Schmo up against the cage in a clinch.
Schmo has had enough of the clinch but Edwards keeps him there for the moment.
Edwards lands an elbow inside that Schmo shrugs off.
Schmo wants to break free but Edwards has control.

Edwards breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Edwards connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Schmo counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Edwards shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Schmo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Edwards backs up against the cage.
Edwards shoots for a double leg takedown but Schmo sprawls well. He's pushed Edwards's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Schmo counters with a series of strikes. Edwards will be more careful next time no doubt.

Edwards stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Edwards feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Schmo clobbers Edwards with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Schmo is rocked!

Edwards has hold of Schmo's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Schmo manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
