The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eppinga doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Aguiar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Aguiar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Eppinga throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Aguiar gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Aguiar circles away from the clinch attempt.
Aguiar avoids the head kick by Eppinga.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Eppinga.
Eppinga gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Aguiar counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Eppinga!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aguiar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Eppinga can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
