Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rob Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shamus McFey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by R Kelly - Real talk. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rob Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shamus McFey!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McFey thows a body shot but no joy.
McFey shoots in for a double leg but Kelly sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McFey takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kelly throws a jab when McFey was well out of range.
McFey dodges the punch combination from Kelly.
McFey lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
McFey lands a jab to the nose.
McFey ducks under a wild hook from Kelly.
Kelly blocks a head kick by McFey.
Kelly cracks McFey with a good jab.
McFey feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kelly's calf.
McFey misses with a looping right.
McFey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McFey shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kelly changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Kelly lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kelly throws a big shot that misses.
Kelly throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McFey.
Kelly moves out of range as McFey throws a body kick.
Kelly moves out of range as McFey strikes.
Kelly throws a jab but it's blocked by McFey.
McFey takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kelly misses with a hook.
McFey misses with a head kick.

McFey shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kelly is trying to defend but McFey finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kelly wants to sweep but no luck.

Kelly is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McFey is staying active underneath Kelly, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

McFey is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kelly pulls his head out easily.
Kelly is trying to control the action in half guard but McFey is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kelly is taking a breather. McFey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
McFey wants to get back to full guard.
Kelly is keen to just control but McFey is a slippery customer.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rob Kelly wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kelly throws a jab when McFey was well out of range.

and McFey counters with a leg kick.
Kelly thuds a left hand into McFey's body.
Kelly rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and McFey counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McFey is thwarting Kelly's attempts to control the position.
McFey slips a nice elbow through Kelly's hands, connecting with Kelly's forehead.
McFey throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Kelly to regain full guard.
Kelly tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kelly lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McFey!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rob Kelly will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kelly looks to land a left hand but McFey moved out of range nicely.
McFey is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McFey misses with a hook. Kelly ducked under it nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from McFey. Kelly does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kelly connects with a body shot that sends McFey's belly button to the back.
Kelly lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
McFey digs a good body shot into Kelly's ribs.
McFey fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kelly has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
McFey with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
McFey is looking to chop away at Kelly's legs.
Shamus McFey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kelly ducks under a wild hook from McFey.
Kelly lands a nice hook to McFey's body. McFey takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
This has been an exciting period of action!

McFey throws a head kick but Kelly moves out of range.
Kelly takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

McFey throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kelly tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McFey is in Kelly's guard.
Kelly wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelly has his hands on McFey's head, controlling the position.
McFey prevents Kelly from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rob Kelly.
McFey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kelly.

Kelly doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kelly looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
McFey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kelly connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McFey gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Kelly connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kelly fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McFey avoids it really well and circles away.
Kelly throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

McFey lands with a slapping head kick.

and Kelly counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kelly throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McFey stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McFey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McFey scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rob Kelly is winning the standup battle so far.
McFey throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Kelly checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kelly lands with an uppercut that bounces McFey off the cage and back into range.
Kelly misses with a left hand
and McFey counters with a low kick, right behind Kelly 's knee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kelly enables McFey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kelly manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kelly is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close second round but Shamus McFey will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Kelly's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kelly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kelly stands and throws McFey's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kelly lands an elbow.
McFey can't do much from the bottom here.
Kelly postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kelly in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Kelly lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear McFey down.
Kelly cracks McFey with a big right hand but McFey just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The strikes coming from Kelly are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The ground and pound from Kelly seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

McFey is looking to regain half guard here but Kelly keeps moving and retains side control.
McFey manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Kelly has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McFey throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
McFeyis looking to pass into half guard but Kelly pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Kelly is in guard.
Kelly wants to control from the top but McFey keeps moving.

McFey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kelly doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kelly manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kelly looking to sit in guard and control but McFey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McFey stands and throws Kelly's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kelly gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Kelly keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Kelly is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McFey winds up and cracks Kelly with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Kelly looks like he's trying to stand up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kelly tries to roll over but McFey keeps him under control.
McFey is thwarting Kelly's attempts to control the position.

McFey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kelly is just riding it out for now. McFey eventually gives up the hold.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rob Kelly showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kelly has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Rob Kelly decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
