Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Renato Laranja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Tuppett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Renato Laranja has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Laranja!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Tuppett!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tuppett shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Laranja is looking for a sweep. Tuppett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Laranja looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Tuppett tries to stand but can't do so whilst Laranja controls his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laranja is refusing to be controlled, as Tuppett sits in half guard.
Laranja is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Tuppett jumps into side control!

Tuppett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Laranja knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tuppett working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Laranja manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tuppett's best efforts.

Laranja wants to get back to his feet.
Laranja is pressing down on Tuppett's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Laranja working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tuppett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tuppett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Laranja has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tuppett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Laranja working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tuppett doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tuppett manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tuppett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Laranja is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Tuppett wants to control from the top but Laranja keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Laranja controls Tuppett momentarily but Tuppett frees himself.

Tuppett won't allow Laranja to get back to his feet.

Laranja escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tuppett gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tuppett wants to control from the top but Laranja keeps moving.
Tuppett is working Laranja over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Laranja wants to stand up but Tuppett is controlling him.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. David Tuppett wasn't active enough on the ground.

Laranja scores a takedown into full mount!
Tuppett tries to lock up and control but Laranja gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Tuppett is looking to improve his position but Laranja isn't that keen on the idea.

Laranja jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tuppett manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Tuppett explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Laranja throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tuppett tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Laranja is in Tuppett's guard.

Laranja decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tuppett, up you get!

Tuppett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Laranja is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tuppett manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Laranja is controlling an arm, preventing Tuppett from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renato Laranja dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Laranja scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Tuppett is looking to reverse the position.
Tuppett is trying to get back to his feet.
Laranja tries to advance to mount but Tuppett denies him.

Laranja has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Laranja looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Tuppett!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Laranja is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Tuppett is surviving well by controlling Laranja's body position as best he can.

Laranja wants to stand but Tuppett is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Tuppett is trying to stand up.
Tuppett tries to improve his position but instead Laranja has taken his back!
Tuppett breaks Laranja's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Tuppett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tuppett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tuppett drops back looking for a leg! Laranja is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Laranja manages to kick Tuppett off! Tuppett jumps back into Laranja's guard.

Laranja had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tuppett defends it easily.

Renato Laranja dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Tuppett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Laranja keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tuppett's head.
Tuppett looking for a sweep. Not yet Tuppett, not yet.
Tuppett is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Laranja wants to control from the top but Tuppett keeps moving.

Tuppett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Laranja kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

David Tuppett has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Tuppett shoots in but no luck this time.

Tuppett is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Laranja's half guard.

Laranja has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Tuppett. Oh but Laranja has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Tuppett goes limp - he's gone! Laranja jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Renato Laranja!
Renato Laranja spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
