PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladmir kurochenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foster kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Headstrong(by: Trapt). Chris Foster has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vladmir kurochenko!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for kurochenko with that takedown attempt.
kurochenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Foster tries to sprawl out of it but kurochenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Foster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Foster shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and kurochenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Foster's guard.
kurochenko works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foster manages to get to full guard.
Foster trying to control the position.
kurochenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Foster swivels though and keeps the full guard.

kurochenko is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Foster is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Foster has escaped and now he's on top!

kurochenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Foster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

kurochenko had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Foster is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. kurochenko Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Foster's back instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

kurochenko is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Foster has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Foster manages to reverse the position and now he's in kurochenko's guard. Nice work there by Foster.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

kurochenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Foster gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Foster not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

kurochenko seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Foster's chin but Foster turns very nicely into kurochenko's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Foster.

Foster wants to control from the top but kurochenko keeps moving.

kurochenko throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Foster escapes and throws kurochenko's legs to the side, diving into side control!
kurochenko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foster lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Foster is trying to control the action in half guard but kurochenko is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Foster is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
kurochenko wants to get back to full guard.
kurochenko moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

kurochenko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Foster avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Foster slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
kurochenko is looking to regain half guard here but Foster keeps moving and retains side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
kurochenko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Foster off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chris Foster will probably get the nod.

Foster has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Foster not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Oh, this is biiiig trouble! kurochenko arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
