PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randerson Teles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randerson Teles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Velasques!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasques throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Velasques takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Teles tries to bum rush Velasques with a series of wild strikes but Velasques uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Teles moves in looking to clinch but Velasques pushes him off.
Teles tries to clinch up

and Velasques counters with a shoot takedown. Teles fights it but they end up in guard.
Velasques slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Velasques is standing up over Teles. Teles looks to escape but Velasques dives into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Velasques moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Velasques tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Teles is letting Velasques control him for a moment.
Teles is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Velasques decides to stand back up. Velasques steps back and let's Teles get back to his feet.
Teles throws a series of punches but Velasques moves out of range.
Teles is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Teles darts in trying to clinch
and Velasques counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Teles misses with a wild combination.
Randerson Teles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Velasques misses with a double jab.
Teles tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Velasques counters with a nice double leg into side control. Teles won't be happy with that.
Teles is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A lull in the action here.

Velasques thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Velasques is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Teles knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
A lull in the action here as Velasques stalls from top position.
Velasques scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Teles to see if he's OK.

Velasques stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Randerson Teles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Teles gets caught flat footed, as Velasques shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Velasques's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Velasques with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Velasques drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Velasques jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Teles is working an open guard so Velasques takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Teles tries to clinch but Velasques is having none of it.

Teles gets tackled into the cage by Velasques. Velasques maintains the clinch.

Velasques jumps guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Velasques manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Velasques lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Teles hang on?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Velasques dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Velasques lands with a shot to the body.
Teles showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Velasques.
A left and a right from Teles both land. Nice combination.

Velasques shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Teles wants to stand but Velasques is controlling the position.
Teles can't keep his opponent in guard - Velasques advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Velasques takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Velasques's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Velasques stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Teles tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Velasques counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Cain Velasques has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velasques seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Velasques seems to be working for a kimura but Teles defends the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Velasques is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Velasques not doing much here.

Velasques is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Teles doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Velasques.
Velasques slows the pace down in half guard.
Teles knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Velasques on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Velasques is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Velasques escapes and gets back to his feet.
Teles looks to clinch
and Velasques counters with a head kick. That will keep Teles thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Velasques clinches up with Teles and pushes him back against the cage.

Teles breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Teles tries to clinch there but Velasques circles away.
Teles is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Velasques looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Teles enables Velasques to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Teles manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasques sitting in guard here, content to control.
Teles is looking to stand back up but Velasques counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Teles.
Velasques perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Teles tries to kick Velasques off but Velasques keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velasques is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Velasques with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Velasques showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Velasques has taken the fight to the clinch.
Teles can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Teles's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Velasques turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
A lull in the action here as Velasques stalls from top position.
Teles tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Teles tries to buck Velasques off but he can't manage it.
Velasques with good strikes from the mount here!
Velasques sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Velasques has isolated one of Teles's arms. Teles looking to fight him off but Velasques twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cain Velasques!
