Rodriguez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Senses Fail-Coming Up Short . The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kunaida uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez missing with a left hand there. Kunaida was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A cross from Rodriguez lands.
It looks like Masato Kunaida has been cut.
Rodriguez misses with a wild body shot.
Kunaida scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
No joy there for Rodriguez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rodriguez throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kunaida counters with a nice body shot.
Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch but Kunaida swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kunaida fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rodriguez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rodriguez steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Kunaida is out on his feet! Rodriguez sets himself and nearly takes Kunaida's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Hurley Rodriguez!
A determined Hurley Rodriguez didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
