Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Damiao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Mapompo!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mapompo misses with a combination
and Damiao counters with a three punch combo that has Mapompo backing up. Mapompo nods at Damiao to acknowledge the strikes.
Mapompo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Damiao looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mapompo drops Damiao with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Damiao looks back up at him and smiles so Mapompo waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mapompo lands a big uppercut and Damiao crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Damiao looks OK. Mapompo waves Damiao back to his feet!
Damiao is rocked!
Mapompo connects with a body shot that sends Damiao's belly button to the back.
Oh Damiao is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mapompo works Damiao's body with a nice hook.
Damiao is breathing heavily.
Mapompo knocks out Damiao with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Mapompo before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Mapompo picks up the big W with a huge KO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). George Mapompo!
George Mapompo decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
