PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Guevara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ribiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guevara kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Chrispy - Inspector Gadget Dubstep. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Ribiero!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribiero walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Ribiero gets a double leg takedown into Guevara's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ribiero wants to pass the guard but Guevara is keeping the position.
Ribiero slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ribiero is pressing down on Guevara's thigh, looking to free his foot. Guevara is holding on for now.

Ribiero is looking for a kimura but Guevara is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ribiero to get the leverage.

Ribiero is keen to just control but Guevara is a slippery customer.

Ribiero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Guevara avoids it really well and circles away.
Ribiero shoots in looking for a takedown. Guevara tries to sprawl out of it but Ribiero keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Guevara manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Guevara makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Ribiero jumps guard but Guevara turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Ribiero content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Guevara pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ribiero avoids a punch combination nicely.
Guevara looks to land a combination but Ribiero avoids it well.
Ribiero throws a hook but Guevara avoids it easily.
Ribiero tries to clinch there but Guevara circles away.

Ribiero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Ribiero connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Guevara knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ribiero on the ground.

Ribiero stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Ribiero moves out of range of the body kick from Guevara.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Ribiero jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Guevara manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Paul Ribiero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Guevara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Ribiero shoots in for a takedown but Guevara shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ribiero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ribiero tries to score a power double leg takedown but Guevara sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ribiero somewhat.

Guevara fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Ribiero to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Ribiero looks to clinch but Guevara throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Ribiero taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
