Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rex Williams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chen Lebeng! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lebeng fails with the takedown and Williams counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lebeng won't be happy with that. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Williams stands up and beckons Lebeng to his feet. Williams checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Williams looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Williams cracks Lebeng with a solid left hand. Williams stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lebeng swivels though and keeps the full guard. Williams throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lebeng works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams's corner is telling him to maintain position. Williams stands up and waves to Lebeng to follow him. Lebeng bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Williams is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lebeng off and has taken his back! Williams looking for the choke from the back. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Williams working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Williams connects with a big shot to the side of Lebeng's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lebeng defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Williams's arms. Williams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Williams looking for the choke but no joy. Williams tightening his grip on Lebeng, looking for the choke. Williams trying to control momentarily.
Williams is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Williams has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Lebeng is defending well but eventually Williams manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Lebeng has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
