PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Hase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Linas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hiroshi Hase!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Linas!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Linas closes the distance and clinches up with Hase, looking for a takedown. Linas pushes Hase against the cage but Hase circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Linas ducks right into an uppercut from Hase.
Hase darts in trying to clinch
and Linas counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Hase fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hase throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Linas.
Linas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hase takes a swing at Linas's ribcage but misses.
Linas blocks a head kick by Hase.
Hase looks to land a combination but Linas avoids it well.
Linas stalks Hase and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hase's face. Hase staggers backwards, shaken.


Hase is rocked!


It looks like Hiroshi Hase has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hase rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Linas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Oh Hase is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Linas closes the distance and pushes Hase back into the cage.

Linas breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hase seems to have got his legs back now.
Hase tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Linas paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Linas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A right-left combo lands from Hase.


It looks like Ben Linas has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hase has Linas up against the cage in a clinch.

Linas breaks the clinch.
Linas lands a glancing blow to the side of Hase's head.
Linas moves in looking to clinch but Hase pushes him off.
Linas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hase but Hase pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Linas slips under a jab from Hase.
Hase lands with a nice combination. Linas backs away looking to recover.


Linas is rocked!
Linas stuffs the takedown.
Linas is still on wobbly legs! Can Hase finish him?
Hase tries to bum rush Linas with a series of wild strikes but Linas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Linas seems to have recovered his senses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Linas moves into range and clinches up with Hase.

Linas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sloppy strikes from Hase. Those never looked like landing.
Hase lands a body shot.
Linas shoots in and drives through. Hase sprawls well.
Hiroshi Hase has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Linas.
Hase shoots in looking for a takedown but Linas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hase's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hase misses with a double jab.

Linas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Linas looks gassed!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hase tries to escape but Linas is in control.
Linas trying to control the action but Hase is working from the bottom.
Linas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Linas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hase is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Linas is looking to take a break and control but Hase is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hase tries to improve position but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Linas decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Hase closes this distance looking for a takedown but Linas circles away.
A right-left combo lands from Hase.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Linas.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Linas keeps the fight on the outside.
Hase throws a right and a left that both miss.
Linas defending well as Hase loads up on a big left hand.
Hiroshi Hase seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Hase as Linas shoots in.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ben Linas will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hase tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hase scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Hiroshi Hase is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hase defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Linas.
Hase throws out a loose jab but Linas uses good head movement to avoid it.
Linas loses concentration momentarily and Hase pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Linas crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Hase finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hiroshi Hase!
Hiroshi Hase seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
