Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Mallett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Mallett is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alejandro Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Mallett!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Diaz with that takedown attempt.
Mallett tries to clinch but Diaz is having none of it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mallett tries to land knees in the clinch but Diaz avoids the damage to the body.

Mallett wants the takedown. Diaz is fighting it off but Mallett persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Diaz's guard against the cage.

Mallett must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mallett swivels and escapes.

Mallett is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Diaz wants to control but Mallett is keeping busy.

Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.

Mallett wants to improve his position but Diaz is controlling well.

Diaz stalling away here and it's allowed Mallett to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Diaz wants to stand but Mallett has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mallett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.

and Mallett counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Diaz!

Mallett goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Diaz turns into him and now he's in Mallett's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mallett can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mallett is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mallett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Mallett drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diaz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diaz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diaz!

Ryan Mallett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mallett has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
