PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hong Kong Phooey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oliver Kahn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phooey comes to the cage accompanied by Hong Kong Phooey. Kahn has chosen Boris Brejcha - Flockentanz as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hong Kong Phooey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Oliver Kahn!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahn shoots in for a takedown but Phooey shows good takedown defense.
Kahn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Phooey avoids it really well and circles away.
Phooey scores with a leg kick.
Kahn tries for a takedown but Phooey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hong Kong Phooey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oliver Kahn.
Kahn sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kahn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kahn takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Oliver Kahn has been cut.
Horrible takedown by Kahn or perhaps it was just good defense by Phooey which made him look bad.
Kahn looks gassed!
Kahn doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Phooey counters with a leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Phooey throws a sloppy head kick and Kahn moves out of range easily.
Kahn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Phooey finds it's way round the side to connect with Kahn's head.
Phooey misses with a wild combination.
Phooey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Kahn fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Phooey to the ground. Kahn is now in Phooey's guard.
Kahn stops Phooey from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Phooey pulls Kahn in close to prevent any damage.
Phooey avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Phooey managing to control the position.
Kahn throws a strike but Phooey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kahn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phooey defends well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kahn is looking for a triangle but Phooey pushes his legs off easily.
Kahn throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Kahn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phooey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kahn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Phooey tries to stand but Kahn is controlling from the bottom.

Kahn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kahn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Phooey defends it easily.

Kahn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Phooey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Phooey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Phooey stands up from Kahn's guard - Phooey perhaps looking for a knockout.
Phooey throws a series of strikes that have Kahn backpedaling.
Phooey throws a head kick that Kahn semi-blocks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Phooey closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kahn trying to stall but Phooey improves his position.
Kahn can't get the takedown.
Kahn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kahn is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Phooey to keep the fight standing.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Phooey.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hong Kong Phooey dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Oliver Kahn's cut.
That's time! Phooey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Phooey lands a left and a right that send Kahn crashing to the mat, dazed. Phooey thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Kahn is rocked!


That has opened up Oliver Kahn's cut even more.
Hong Kong Phooey is winning the standup battle so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Phooey sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Kahn's defenses. It connects perfectly with Kahn's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Hong Kong Phooey!
