PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Adam Hoppus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklin Diggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diggins is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bonfire. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Hoppus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franklin Diggins!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diggins has Hoppus up against the cage in a clinch.
Hoppus tries to pull guard but Diggins forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Hoppus jumps guard but Diggins stands there with Hoppus around his waist. Hoppus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hoppus takes a knee to the side of the body.
Hoppus tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Hoppus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hoppus wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Diggins has him pressed against the cage.
Hoppus wants a takedown but no success here.
Diggins stalling in the clinch.

Hoppus jumps guard and drags Diggins to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Diggins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Franklin Diggins hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Diggins has managed to clinch.
Hoppus tries for a takedown but Diggins manages to get underhooks.
Diggins manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on Diggins's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Franklin Diggins.
Hoppus tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Diggins swivels and escapes.
Diggins lands with a hook. Hoppus tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Diggins bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hoppus's head backwards.

Hoppus fails with a takedown attempt.
Hoppus takes a swing at Diggins's ribcage but misses.
Diggins is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Diggins throws a shot to the body.
Diggins stuffs the takedown attempt from Hoppus. Hoppus gets slowly back to his feet.

Hoppus is breathing heavily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diggins lands a head kick!
Diggins lands a right hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franklin Diggins dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Diggins throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hoppus's head.
Diggins slaps away a takedown attempt from Hoppus, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Diggins defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hoppus.
Hoppus shoots in looking for a takedown. Diggins tries to sprawl out of it but Hoppus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Diggins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Hoppus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Diggins staying out of range there.
Hoppus shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hoppus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Diggins counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diggins moves into range and clinches up with Hoppus.

Diggins manages to break the clinch.
Diggins connects with an inside leg kick.
A head kick by Hoppus misses
and Diggins counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Franklin Diggins seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Diggins utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hoppus has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Diggins is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Diggins is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Hoppus is looking to control Diggins's arms but Diggins gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hoppus has his back to the cage.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Franklin Diggins.
Hoppus shoots and misses
and Diggins counters with a good, hard body kick but Hoppus shrugs it off.
Diggins connects with a high kick.


It looks like Adam Hoppus has been cut.

Diggins pushes Hoppus up against the cage in a clinch.

Diggins drops Hoppus with a big knee straight up the middle! Hoppus is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!


Hoppus is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A nice inside leg kick there by Diggins. That's going to slow Hoppus down.
Oh Hoppus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diggins is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hoppus rather than just go for the knockout.
Diggins moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hoppus seems to have got his legs back now.
Hoppus has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Diggins.
Diggins lands a brutal head kick. Hoppus looks out on his feet and Diggins throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Franklin Diggins!
Franklin Diggins bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
