Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Kelso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, RJ Tenn! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelso fails with a takedown attempt. Kelso shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tenn's guard. Kelso postures up in Tenn's guard and throws a big left but Tenn blocks it. Tenn looking for a guillotine here but Kelso defends easily.
Tenn had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kelso is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tenn Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kelso's back instead. You can see the frustration on Kelso's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Kelso tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Kelso really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tenn looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Kelso is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelso regains half guard. Tenn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Tenn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tenn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tenn looks gassed! Kelso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tenn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Tenn passes Kelso's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kelso looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kelso looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tenn is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Kelso is looking to improve his position but Tenn isn't that keen on the idea. Tenn looking for a guillotine from mount but Kelso is having none of it. Kelso bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kelso drops back for a leg! That's three minutes gone in the round. Tenn keeping moving, preventing Kelso from controlling successfully. Kelso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tenn's guard. Kelso is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kelso wants to finish this one by submission but Tenn is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kelso. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kelso can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tenn is looking to escape. Tenn is wriggling around trying to escape.

Kelso tries to control but Tenn wriggling away. Kelso is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Tenn is in real trouble.
Kelso is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Tenn knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Tenn for a finish. Kelso is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Tenn defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Tenn rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Tenn doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kelso counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tenn won't be happy with that. Kelso tries for a kimura but Tenn is defending well. Kelso thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Tenn gets back to half guard. Michael Kelso overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kelso not landing any meaningful shots this time. Tenn looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Tenn manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tenn takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Kelso working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Tenn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kelso wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tenn, who protects the arm well. Kelso is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tenn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Tenn stops Kelso from passing to mount.
