Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Hatton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Polio!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polio shoots in looking for a takedown. Hatton tries to sprawl out of it but Polio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hatton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Hatton enables Polio to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hatton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Polio distracts Hatton with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Polio thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Polio throws a big right hand that misses.
Hatton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Polio is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hatton has his foot on Polio's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Polio works his way back into a safe position though.
Hatton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Polio defends well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hatton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Polio is aware though and is defending well.
Polio is pushing down on Hatton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hatton is fighting to maintain full guard but Polio has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hatton is in trouble now - Polio has advanced to mount!
Hatton is looking to improve his position but Polio isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Polio working for a submission but Hatton is keeping him at bay.
Polio is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Hatton is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Hatton flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Polio anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Hatton and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Polio slips an arm under Hatton chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Polio has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Polio is squeezing on Hatton like an anaconda would it's prey. Hatton fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tommy Polio!
