PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyov Kirijenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Skank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skank has chosen The Professionals as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Billy Skank was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Lyov Kirijenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Skank!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skank avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Kirijenko drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kirijenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Skank is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kirijenko throws a big right hand that misses.
Kirijenko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Skank preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Skank tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kirijenko trying to control but Skank is working from the bottom.
Skank wants to stand but Kirijenko is controlling the position.
Skank keeping full guard, as Kirijenko tries to pass.
Kirijenko advances position into side control!

Kirijenko sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Skank is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Kirijenko wants to control but Skank is keeping him busy.
Skank tries to improve position but can't.
Kirijenko working the ground and pound.
Kirijenko taking a break here but Skank is having none of it and regains half guard.
Kirijenko stops Skank from getting back to his feet.
Kirijenko is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kirijenko missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Skank tries to roll over but Kirijenko keeps him under control.
Skank is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kirijenko scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kirijenko wants to pass to mount but Skank is defending the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Skank wants to improve his position but Kirijenko is controlling well.
Skank gets back to full guard.

Kirijenko stands up over Skank, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Skank manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Skank content just to control the position here.
Kirijenko is wriggling around trying to escape.
Skank looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kirijenko tries to reverse the position but Skank maintains control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Kirijenko wants to hold on but Skank pushes him away.

Skank get's back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skank defending well as Kirijenko loads up on a big left hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kirijenko throws a right hand that misses
and Skank counters with a nice kick to the body.
Kirijenko is looking to land body kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lyov Kirijenko dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kirijenko misses the shot to the body.
Skank throws a nice head kick!
Skank tries a head kick but it misses.
Kirijenko moves out of range of the body kick.
Kirijenko lands with a nice body punch.
Skank fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kirijenko has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Skank pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kirijenko throws out a leg kick but Skank moves out of range and Kirijenko only half commits.
Kirijenko avoids the head kick by Skank.

Skank throws a head kick that misses.

Kirijenko feints and as Skank raises his hands in defense, Kirijenko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Skank wants to sweep here but Kirijenko controlling him for the moment.
Kirijenko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kirijenko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Skank has his feet on Kirijenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Skank pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kirijenko fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Skank looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kirijenko throws a leg kick that misses.
Skank lands with a thumping leg kick.

Skank lands a big head kick that sends Kirijenko tumbling to the mat! Skank takes a step backwards and waves Kirijenko back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Kirijenko is rocked!


It looks like Lyov Kirijenko has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Skank moves out of range of the body kick from Kirijenko.
Oh Kirijenko is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kirijenko throws a wild body kick that Skank sees coming a mile off.
Kirijenko seems to have got his legs back now.

Kirijenko decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kirijenko is looking to take a break and control but Skank is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Skank gets back to full guard.
Kirijenko wants to pass the guard but Skank is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirijenko throws a strike but Skank rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kirijenko is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kirijenko with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kirijenko is thwarting Skank's attempts to control the position.
Kirijenko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Skank's head.

Kirijenko tries to pass to full mount but Skank defends it.
Skank is refusing to be controlled, as Kirijenko sits in half guard.
Skank has hold of Kirijenko's hands but Kirijenko slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kirijenko looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kirijenko is trying to control the action in half guard but Skank is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Skank moves into full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kirijenko pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Skank is keeping the position for now.
Kirijenko with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Skank showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Lyov Kirijenko's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Kirijenko smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Skank tries a head kick but it misses.
Skank uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kirijenko has time to react.
Kirijenko shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kirijenko avoids the head kick by Skank.
Skank delivers a nice body kick.
Skank looks to land a body kick but Kirijenko moved away.

Skank gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kirijenko to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kirijenko throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Kirijenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Skank is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Skank is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Skank manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Kirijenko tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Skank takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Skank tries to control but Kirijenko wriggling away.
Skank looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kirijenko is trying to escape the mount.
Kirijenko tries to lock up and control but Skank gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kirijenko is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Lyov Kirijenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kirijenko keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Skank trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kirijenko is trying desperately to improve position.
Skank wants to stand but Kirijenko is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Skank tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kirijenko is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kirijenko tries to reverse the position but Skank maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Skank gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Kirijenko throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kirijenko misses with an uppercut.
Skank throws a head kick but Kirijenko moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kirijenko is defended easily by Skank.
Skank avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Skank comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Skank has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
