Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Sabin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Sabin !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian McDonald!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Sabin blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
McDonald should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
McDonald is trying to push Sabin away but Sabin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Sabin .


It looks like Brian McDonald has been cut.
Sabin lands a nice elbow.
Sabin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Sabin lands an elbow inside.


That has opened up Brian McDonald's cut even more.
Sabin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but McDonald pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McDonald is trying to push Sabin away but Sabin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Sabin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sabin tries to score a body lock takedown but McDonald shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Sabin lands an elbow just above McDonald 's eye.


The cut above Brian McDonald's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Sabin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sabin tries to clinch up but McDonald circles away and keeps his distance.
Michael Sabin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McDonald makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Sabin moves in looking to clinch but McDonald pushes him off.

Sabin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McDonald to score an easy takedown into full guard.

McDonald is pushing down on Sabin 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sabin is fighting to maintain full guard but McDonald has managed to sneak the leg through.

McDonald is looking for submissions but instead, Sabin has regained full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brian McDonald wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sabin doesn't manage to clinch there - McDonald circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McDonald shoots for a takedown but Sabin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sabin tries to close the distance and clinch up but McDonald swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sabin leaves McDonald with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from McDonald as Sabin shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Sabin . That's going to take a lot out of him.

McDonald closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McDonald lands in his opponent's guard.
McDonald advances position into side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sabin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McDonald has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Brian McDonald will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sabin is looking to clinch but McDonald is avoiding it.

McDonald closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sabin 's guard.
McDonald controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
McDonald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

McDonald stands up and we're back to a striking position.

McDonald closes the distance and clinches.
Sabin is trying to pull guard but McDonald turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
McDonald goes for a takedown attempt but Sabin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sabin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sabin walks into a jab.

McDonald has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sabin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McDonald uses from the top position.
Sabin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McDonald controls the pace.

Sabin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McDonald is controlling him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
McDonald passes Sabin 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

McDonald stops Sabin from getting back to his feet.
Sabin tries to push off, looking to stand up, but McDonald manages to move to mount!

McDonald gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
McDonald circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nice shot lands for McDonald.

Sabin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McDonald's half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sabin tries to stand and escape but McDonald actually recovers to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McDonald is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Sabin frees his head nicely. Oh but McDonald has switched to an armbar! Sabin is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
