PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mac Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolai Crushkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crushkin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Arcturus - Ad Absurdum kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mac Waters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nikolai Crushkin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crushkin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Waters shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Crushkin trying to hold on to Waters's head to control him but Waters postures up.
Waters slows the pace down in half guard.
Waters has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Waters wants to free his trapped foot but Crushkin is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waters throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Crushkin to regain full guard.

Waters is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Waters wants to pass the guard but Crushkin is keeping the position.

Crushkin keeping moving, preventing Waters from controlling successfully.

We're going to have a standup here because Mac Waters wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Horrible takedown by Waters or perhaps it was just good defense by Crushkin which made him look bad.

It looks like Mac Waters has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crushkin misses with a two punch combination.
Waters shoots in looking for a takedown. Crushkin tries to sprawl out of it but Waters keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Crushkin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Waters dodges the punch combination from Crushkin.
Waters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crushkin tries to avoid it but Waters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crushkin to the ground. Crushkin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mac Waters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crushkin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Waters at a distance.
Waters is breathing heavily.

Waters fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Crushkin sprawls well initially but Waters persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Crushkin is trying to stand up here but Waters is controlling him well.
Waters wants to pass to mount but Crushkin is defending the position.
Waters is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Crushkin reverses the position - he's now on top in Waters's guard.

Crushkin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Crushkin is looking to take a break and control but Waters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Waters on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Waters tries to get out of the position.
Waters tries to bench press Crushkin off him but Crushkin keeps the position.

Crushkin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Waters, who protects the arm well.
Crushkin throws a strike aimed at the side of Waters's head but Waters avoids it well.

Crushkin is trying to get an arm triangle but Waters is defending well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Crushkin decides to stand back up. Crushkin steps back and let's Waters get back to his feet.

Crushkin moves in looking to clinch but Waters pushes him off.
Waters shoots in looking for a takedown but Crushkin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Waters's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Waters takes an elbow to the forehead.
Waters prevents Crushkin from breaking the clinch.
Crushkin gets underhooks to prevent Waters's takedown attempt.

Waters turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Waters manages to end up in side control.
Crushkin prevents Waters from moving into mount.
Waters trying to control the position but Crushkin is working away.
Crushkin wants to control but Waters postures up.
Crushkin is trying to buck Waters off.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Crushkin throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Waters shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Waters showed some decent athleticism there.
Waters content to control rather than advance.
Waters trying to mount his opponent but Crushkin defends it.

Crushkin wants to control but Waters is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nikolai Crushkin.
Waters fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Crushkin looks to land a body kick but Waters moved away.

Crushkin lands a big head kick that sends Waters tumbling to the mat! Crushkin takes a step backwards and waves Waters back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Waters tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crushkin swivels and escapes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Crushkin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Crushkin slaps away a takedown attempt from Waters, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mac Waters. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice takedown defense from Crushkin. No joy for Waters on that attempt.
Crushkin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Waters circles away quickly and effectively.
Crushkin leaves Waters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Crushkin avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Waters avoids the head kick by Crushkin.
Crushkin tries to bum rush Waters with a series of wild strikes but Waters uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mac Waters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Crushkin drives through and clinches with Waters against the cage.

Crushkin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crushkin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Waters avoids it really well and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Waters.

Crushkin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Waters tries to score a body lock takedown but Crushkin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Crushkin's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Crushkin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from Crushkin. Those never looked like landing.

Crushkin clinches up against the cage.
Crushkin is trying to push Waters away but Waters has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Crushkin is trying to trip Waters. He has hold of a leg but Waters is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Crushkin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Waters pulls Crushkin in to control the position.

Waters wants to sweep here but Crushkin controlling him for the moment.
Crushkin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Waters has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Crushkin has passed into side control.

Crushkin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waters knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Waters tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Crushkin is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Waters is trying to escape and Crushkin transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Waters is forced to tap! Nice work there by Crushkin! Very nice indeed!
