Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donavan Phillips!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Phillips shoots and misses
and Carver counters with a left and a right that stings Phillips.
Phillips is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carver sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A left and a right from Phillips both land. Nice combination.

Phillips gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carver to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Phillips utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Phillips tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Carver tries to free his leg and advance position but Phillips is retaining full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Jesse Carver wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Phillips shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carver napping and manages to drive through into side control!
An elbow from Phillips crashes against the mat.
Carver could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Carver tries to buck Phillips off but Phillips is having none of it.
Phillips wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carver keeps working.

Phillips has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Carver keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Phillips counters with a series of strikes. Carver will be more careful next time no doubt.

Carver tries to close the distance and clinch but Phillips swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Phillips shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carver as he jumps to the side.
Carver lands a jab to Phillips's midsection.

and Carver counters with a nice kick to the body.
Carver closes this distance looking for a takedown but Phillips circles away.
Phillips connects with a right hand. Carver shakes it off.
Carver punishes Phillips's body with a nice straight punch.
Phillips shoots in looking for a takedown but Carver manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Phillips's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Carver bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carver wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Phillips, who protects the arm well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carver takes a little break here. Phillips wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Carver dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Carver closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Phillips's guard.
Carver wants to control from the top but Phillips keeps moving.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Phillips is trying to keep Carver in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jesse Carver just wasn't active enough.
Phillips wants to clinch up but Carver keeps it at a distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Phillips enables Carver to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Phillips manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Phillips drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Carver dives on top into guard.

Phillips wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving.
Carver avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Carver working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Phillips doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Phillips manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Phillips gets to his feet - Carver follows without any prompting.
Carver tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Phillips counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Phillips winds up and cracks Carver with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Phillips is trying to control the action in half guard but Carver is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Phillips decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phillips shoots for a takedown but Carver saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Carver changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phillips tries to avoid it but Carver manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phillips to the ground. Phillips escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Phillips closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carver to the mat! Carver manages to get full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Donavan Phillips showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Phillips wants to get up but he can't break Carver's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Phillips throws a strike but Carver rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jesse Carver.
Carver fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Carver fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Phillips manages to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
