The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snipes bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nikil's head.
Nikil fails with a takedown attempt.

Snipes gets caught flat footed, as Nikil shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Nikil has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like Wesley Snipes has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nikil connects with a nice short shot to Snipes's temple.

That has opened up Wesley Snipes's cut even more.
Nikil looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Snipes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The cut above Wesley Snipes's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Wesley Snipes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

A relieved looking Kenrick Nikil thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
