PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Wiltsie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scaredy McScared (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wiltsie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Mein Herz Brennt. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Wiltsie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scaredy McScared!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wiltsie uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Wiltsie is looking to land body kicks.
Wiltsie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McScared uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wiltsie.
Scaredy McScared seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wiltsie throws a series of punches but McScared moves out of range.

Wiltsie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McScared has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wiltsie is working away from the top position though.
Wiltsie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McScared's head.

McScared is defending against the submission attempts here by Wiltsie.
Wiltsie takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wiltsie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McScared does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

McScared looking for submissions off his back.
McScared wants to improve his position but Wiltsie is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McScared slips under a jab from Wiltsie.
McScared fails with the takedown

and Wiltsie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McScared's guard now.
Wiltsie scoring with punches to the head and body.
Wiltsie wants to control from the top but McScared keeps moving.
Wiltsie slips nicely into half guard.
Wiltsie looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Wiltsie throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
McScared is refusing to be controlled, as Wiltsie sits in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McScared is trying to get back to full guard.
McScared on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
McScared wants to get back to his feet.

Wiltsie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McScared is just riding it out for now. Wiltsie eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McScared is pressing down on Wiltsie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Wiltsie is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McScared is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McScared has escaped and now he's on top!
Wiltsie throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wiltsie looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

McScared is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
McScared wants to control from the top but Wiltsie keeps moving.

Wiltsie pushes McScared off and scrambles back to his feet.
McScared tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Wiltsie counters with a nice uppercut.
McScared has his takedown stuffed
and Wiltsie counters with a nice uppercut.
McScared looks gassed!
McScared misses with a takedown
and Wiltsie counters with a one-two to the body.


McScared is rocked!
Robert Wiltsie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scaredy McScared.
Wiltsie Rushes McScared and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! McScared is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Wiltsie Piles on the pressure and McScared crumples to the floor! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Wiltsie!
