Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Alkofer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jhonny Cage!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Alkofer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Alkofer throws a lazy uppercut
and Cage counters with a single leg into guard. Alkofer didn't expect that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Alkofer can't keep his opponent in guard - Cage advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cage stops Alkofer from getting back to his feet.
Cage trying to control the action but Alkofer is working from the bottom.
Cage is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Alkofer tries to kick Cage off but Cage keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alkofer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alkofer looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cage wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alkofer keeps working.
Cage prevents Alkofer from standing back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cage seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alkofer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Jhonny Cage hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Alkofer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cage uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Alkofer.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cage decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Cage is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alkofer sees it coming and defends easily.
Cage is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cage is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Alkofer is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
