Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Barcinas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sydal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ralph Barcinas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Sydal!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Barcinas enables Sydal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barcinas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sydal postures up.
Sydal controlling from the top position.
Sydal wants to get up but he can't break Barcinas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sydal slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Barcinas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jason Sydal hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Sydal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Barcinas jumps guard.
Sydal trying to control the position from guard on top but Barcinas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sydal wants to stand but Barcinas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sydal wants to control from the top but Barcinas keeps moving.
Barcinas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sydal engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Jason Sydal has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Barcinas tries to close the distance and clinch but Sydal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sydal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sydal looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Sydal trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Barcinas manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Sydal looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Barcinas passes into half guard.

Sydal manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sydal.
This has been an exciting period of action!
You can see the frustration on Barcinas's face as Sydal controls the position.

Barcinas explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Sydal fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Barcinas to the ground. Sydal is now in Barcinas's guard.
Barcinas is breathing heavily.
Barcinas has momentary wrist control but Sydal slips an elbow through the middle.
Sydal stays in close to Barcinas's body and controls the position.
Sydal throws a big elbow that misses.
Barcinas has Sydal pulled in close to control his posture.
Sydal trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Sydal controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Sydal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barcinas, up you get!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Sydal rushes Barcinas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Barcinas wants to break the clinch but can't.
Barcinas is trying to break free.

Sydal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barcinas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sydal avoids it really well and circles away.

Sydal closes the distance and clinches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sydal stalls.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Sydal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Barcinas slips a jab and a cross from Sydal.

Sydal moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee is keeping an eye on Sydal - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sydal is trying to drag Barcinas to the mat but Barcinas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sydal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Sydal drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Barcinas gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Sydal successfully pulls guard.

Sydal has his foot on Barcinas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barcinas works his way back into a safe position though.

Barcinas drops back looking for a leg! Sydal is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sydal manages to kick Barcinas off! Barcinas jumps back into Sydal's guard.
Barcinas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Sydal wants to improve his position but instead Barcinas has moved into half guard.
Sydal trying to control from the bottom.
Barcinas is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Sydal reverses the position - he's now on top in Barcinas's guard.
Barcinas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sydal's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barcinas wants to control from the top but Sydal keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sydal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Barcinas passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sydal tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barcinas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Barcinas controlling from side mount.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Jason Sydal has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sydal tries to bench press Barcinas off him but Barcinas keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sydal is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Barcinas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ralph Barcinas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sydal scores with a jab to the head.
Sydal should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sydal shoots in and bounces Barcinas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sydal wants to advance to full mount but Barcinas doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Sydal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Sydal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Sydal thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sydal works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Sydal is looking to take a break and control but Barcinas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barcinas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Sydal keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Sydal is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Barcinas manages to get to full guard.
Barcinas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barcinas tries to get out of the position.
Barcinas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sydal wanted to stand there but Barcinas had control of the position.

Barcinas keeping full guard, as Sydal tries to pass.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Sydal wasn't active enough on the ground.

Sydal has managed to clinch.
Sydal misses with a knee strike.

Sydal gets control of Barcinas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sydal will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Sydal looking for a sweep. Not yet Sydal, not yet.
Sydal is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Sydal keeping moving, preventing Barcinas from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Sydal moves into the clinch.

Sydal jumps guard.

Sydal is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sydal is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sydal looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Barcinas puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Barcinas decides to return to a standing position.

Sydal looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Sydal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barcinas is keeping the position for now.
Barcinas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sydal's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sydal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ralph Barcinas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jason Sydal is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sydal is stalling in the full guard.

Well Sydal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
