Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jan Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergio Moraes!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalski fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Moraes looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Moraes shoots in for a takedown but Kowalski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kowalski checks a low kick from Moraes.
Moraes throws a lazy head kick
and Moraes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Kowalski tries to sprawl but Moraes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Moraes prevents Kowalski from improving his position.

Moraes gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Kowalski ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Moraes shoots in for a takedown but Kowalski shows good takedown defense.
Kowalski looks to land a left hand but Moraes moved out of range nicely.
Moraes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kowalski swivels and escapes.

Moraes has Kowalski up against the cage in a clinch.

Kowalski jumps guard and drags Moraes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Moraes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kowalski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kowalski is in trouble now - Moraes has advanced to mount!

Moraes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sergio Moraes wasn't active enough on the ground.
Moraes throws a head kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kowalski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Moraes moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Moraes.
Moraes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Moraes misses with a takedown attempt - Kowalski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Kowalski fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Moraes manages to avoid it.

Kowalski throws a hook but Moraes blocks it.
Moraes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kowalski is fending him off so far but Moraes persists. Nope, Kowalski circles away and we're back to standing.
Sergio Moraes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moraes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kowalski tries to sprawl but Moraes drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kowalski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moraes on the ground.
Kowalski wants to get back to full guard but Moraes has passed into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kowalski is letting Moraes control him for a moment.

The ground and pound from Moraes seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Moraes is chipping away with strikes.

Moraes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kowalski to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kowalski cracks Moraes with a good jab.

Moraes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moraes moves into full mount! Kowalski won't be happy about that!

Moraes is landing with some decent strikes but Kowalski is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kowalski gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Moraes to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Moraes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Moraes moves into the clinch.
Kowalski jumps guard but Moraes stands there with Kowalski around his waist. Kowalski gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Moraes stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Moraes is trying to force a seperation but Kowalski has the dominant position.

Moraes jumps guard and drags Kowalski to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Moraes wants to sweep but no luck.
Moraes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Moraes has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kowalski doesn't defend quickly enough and Moraes has managed to lock this one up! Can Kowalski escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Moraes on a fantastic submission victory.
