Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van Dam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thunder kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 2PAC-. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Johnny Thunder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Van Dam! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thunder gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dam to score an easy takedown into full guard. Thunder is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Thunder is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dam dives into side control.
Dam lands an elbow. Dam in side control lands a decent elbow. Dam throwing shots but missing, from side control. Thunder takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dam throws an elbow but Thunder slips to the side and avoids it well. Thunder is trying to get back to his feet. Dam scores with a couple of short elbows. Thunder sneaks back into half guard. Thunder wants to get back to full guard. Thunder looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Dam trying to mount his opponent but Thunder defends it. Thunder moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thunder avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Thunder looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dam with a flurry of punches that miss. Thunder keeping full guard, as Dam tries to pass. Thunder manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Dam misses the jab. Dam gets caught napping as Thunder dives in and scores a takedown. Dam manages to retain guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thunder trying to control but Dam is working from the bottom. Dam keeping full guard, as Thunder tries to pass. Dam tries to strike from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thunder wants to control from the top but Dam keeps moving. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Thunder in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Thunder stopping the sweep attempt from Dam. Dam tries to strike from the bottom.
Dam wants to sweep here but Thunder controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thunder trying to control but Dam is working from the bottom. Thunder scoring with some ground and pound. Thunder is looking to work some ground and pound but Dam has wrist control. Thunder throwing strikes but missing. Thunder trying to control the position from guard on top but Dam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thunder is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Dam is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Dam is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thunder makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Thunder is in close to Dam's body, working some short punches and elbows. Thunder throws a strike but Dam rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Dam throws an elbow that misses. Thunder uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dam's guard. Nice move by Thunder! This has been an exciting period of action! Dam tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Dam manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thunder gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Thunder will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dam shoots in but no luck this time. Dam fails to land with a series of punches.
Dam takes a swing at Thunder's ribcage but misses. Dam misses with a low kick.
Dam misses with a hook to the body
and Thunder counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Thunder slips a nice elbow through Dam's hands, connecting with Dam's forehead. Thunder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dam regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thunder in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Thunder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Thunder working some strikes from top position. Thunder avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dam manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Thunder wants to try and get back to his feet. Thunder is wriggling around trying to escape.
Thunder sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Thunder looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Dam landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thunder tries to kick Dam off but Dam keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Dam not landing any meaningful shots this time. Dam is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dam is trying to work for a kimura but Thunder is defending well.
Thunder is trying to stand.
Dam blocks the strikes from Thunder.
Dam trying to mount his opponent but Thunder defends it. Dam working over Thunder with some ground and pound. Thunder looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Dam is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Thunder has managed to free his arm - good work. Dam lands strikes from half guard. Dam is pressing down on Thunder's thigh, looking to free his foot. Thunder is holding on for now. Dam is working for a submission of some sort.
Dam is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thunder is looking to escape. Dam is nestled in close to Thunder, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Dam throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Thunder wants to get back to his feet.
Dam passes to side control. Thunder tries to bench press Dam off him but Dam keeps the position. Thunder is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dam is controlling him well. Thunder taking punishment in the form of punches.
Thunder is working to avoid the ground and pound but Dam connects with a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dam cracks Thunder with a big right hand but Thunder just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dam lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Dam connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Thunder some visible discomfort.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dam lands some shots froms side control.
Thunder is rocked! A big shot lands for Dam! That's hurt Thunder! Will he recover? Dam fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
