Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Sotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rolando Paneda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberto Sotto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Roberto Sotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Rolando Paneda!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sotto is looking to slow Paneda down with leg kicks.
Roberto Sotto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sotto fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paneda looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sotto misses with a double jab

and Paneda counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sotto is trying to control but Paneda passes into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sotto parries the strikes from Paneda easily there. Paneda is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sotto to escape.
Sotto gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Sotto is looking for a sweep. Paneda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sotto gets back to full guard.
Sotto keeping moving, preventing Paneda from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sotto pulls Paneda in close to prevent any damage.

Sotto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paneda can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Paneda postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Paneda is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rolando Paneda was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Sotto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sotto is breathing heavily.
Sotto throws a right and a left that Paneda avoids nicely.
Paneda connects with a high kick.
Sotto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Paneda.
Sotto really is a fat lump.
Paneda tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sotto swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Paneda is defended easily by Sotto.
Paneda throws a quick inside leg kick.
Sotto waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Paneda.

Sotto throws a sloppy head kick and Paneda moves out of range easily.

Paneda closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sotto quickly recovers to half guard.
Paneda moves into full mount! Sotto won't be happy about that!
Paneda looking to control and managing it successfully.

Paneda stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Paneda shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sotto sprawls well. Sotto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paneda gets slowly back to his feet.
Roberto Sotto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rolando Paneda.

Paneda looking to score a takedown here. Sotto is defending well but Paneda drives through and ends up in Sotto's guard.

Sotto tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Paneda postures up and lands a big shot to Sotto's brow.
Sotto is trying to control the position but Paneda postures up.
Sotto wants to sweep but no luck.

Paneda decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Sotto throws the kick towards the body but Paneda avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Paneda.
Sotto tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rolando Paneda dominated that round.
That's time! Sotto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Sotto throws a lazy head kick
and Paneda counters with a big head kick but Sotto shrugs it off.
Sotto misses the body punch

and Paneda counters by moving into the clinch.
Paneda looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Paneda manages to break the clinch.
A jab from Paneda finds it's way through Sotto's defenses.
Paneda bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sotto swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sotto scores with a shot to the body.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sotto.

Paneda scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sotto is not content to let Paneda control the position.

Paneda decides to stand back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paneda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sotto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sotto throws a head kick that misses.
Paneda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Paneda thows a body kick. Sotto tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Paneda doesn't manage to clinch there - Sotto circles away.

Paneda gets a clinch.

Paneda breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Paneda looking to score a takedown here. Sotto is defending well but Paneda drives through and ends up in Sotto's guard.
Sotto will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Sotto looking to control but Paneda passes into half guard.
Sotto might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sotto has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paneda is working away from the top position though.

Sotto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Paneda postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sotto to stand up.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Paneda ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Paneda drives through with a takedown into guard.
Paneda works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sotto is staying active underneath Paneda, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sotto missing with punches from the bottom.

Paneda is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paneda seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sotto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rolando Paneda has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sotto keeping hold of Paneda's head, controlling as best he can.
Sotto avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Paneda.

Paneda moves into full mount! Sotto won't be happy about that!
BOOM! Paneda connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sotto is desperately trying to improve his position but Paneda has a good base and remains in mount.
Paneda is in the full mount, landing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Paneda tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Paneda wants to finish this one by submission but Sotto is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Paneda.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rolando Paneda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Paneda tests Sotto's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Paneda has managed to clinch.

Paneda gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Sotto trying to control here.
Sotto is pressing down on Paneda's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Paneda has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sotto is proving hard to escape from.
Paneda takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sotto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Paneda not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Sotto wants to sweep here but Paneda controlling him for the moment.
Sotto has momentary wrist control but Paneda slips an elbow through the middle.

Sotto looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Paneda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sotto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sotto controls Paneda momentarily but Paneda frees himself.

Sotto is working an open guard so Paneda takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Paneda moves in looking to clinch but Sotto pushes him off.
Sotto stuffs the takedown.
Roberto Sotto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sotto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Paneda moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sotto misses with a series of wild punches.
Sotto swats away the attempt to clinch by Paneda.

Paneda drives through with a takedown into guard.
Paneda content to stall in guard here.

Paneda wants to free his trapped foot but Sotto is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Paneda wants to control the pace but Sotto is squirming around nicely.
Sotto is desperately trying to improve his position but Paneda has a good base and remains in mount.

Rolando Paneda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Paneda winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
